His Hands shall also finish it Part 4

In the News

Unsurprisingly, we are getting reports of unusual things happening in the heavens. Radio astronomers have discovered dozens of “throats” of wormholes in space (for transport?)

The Bethlehem Star

Additionally, it has been reported that on or about December 21st, within a few days of Joseph Smith’s birth date, during the upcoming winter solstice, Jupiter and Saturn will line up to create what is known as the “Christmas Star” or “Star of Bethlehem.” See Video

“You’d have to go all the way back to just before dawn on March 4, 1226, to see a closer alignment between these objects visible in the night sky.”

One of my readers made these comments about it

“This happens one week after the midpoint between the two total eclipses over Zion (the 2017 and 2024 ones). The midpoint on December 14th is also interestingly the day the electoral college votes.” The winter solstice is a highly symbolic date when darkness stops increasing and the light begins to overcome it again. Time for a rebirth perhaps?

Joseph Smith allegedly wore a Jupiter Talisman indicating that a major event might take place during a time when Jupiter lines up in a certain way

Biden Poised to Unleash Executive Orders

Trump Getting Ready to Act on Executive Order

Situation Update, Dec. 3rd – Trump invokes foreign interference provision of his 2018 executive order, authorizing military response to cyber warfare, see NSPM 13

Preparing of a Disputed Election

In September 2019, a paper was written in the (Jesuit) Loyola University Law Journal by Edward B. Foley, election law scholar, titled “Preparing of a Disputed Presidential Election: An Exercise in Election Risk Assessment and Management

The document (which can be read online) appears to have detailed the 2020 election – so far – to a frightening precision.

The concluding paragraphs are provided below:

F. The Relevance of the Twentieth Amendment?

The Twentieth Amendment seems to contemplate the possibility that the counting of electoral votes may be incomplete and thus there might be neither a president-elect nor a vice president elect at noon on January 20, when the terms of the previous president and vice president expire, and thus there would need to be an acting president to be identified in a statute enacted by Congress:

If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person 362 Loyola University Chicago Law Journal [Vol. 51 shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

But what if there is a debate on whether or not the situation exists where “a President shall not have been chosen”? Suppose the House of Representatives thinks the electoral count remains incomplete because of an intractable dispute, and thus in its view the situation calls for an acting president until the dispute is resolved, whereas the outgoing vice president (before noon on January 20) believes that the electoral count has been brought to a conclusion despite the House’s objection, and thus the declared president-elect is entitled to all the powers of the office starting at the beginning of the new term. Does the Constitution, properly interpreted, provide an answer on whether the situation is one involving an acting president, as the House contends, or a president-elect, as the outgoing vice president contends?

Related, if there were to exist the situation at noon on January 20 of two simultaneous claims to the status of commander-in-chief—one from previously incumbent president claiming to have been declared re-elected by the outgoing vice president, and the other from the Speaker of the House claiming to assume the status of acting president given the House’s declaration that there is no president-elect because the electoral count remains disputed and incomplete—do military officials, including those responsible for control of nuclear weapons, wishing to obey the lawful commander-in-chief know how to decide who is the lawful commander-in-chief

On with the Series

At the time that Joseph Smith received section 124, the appointed swearing in date for President Elect Harrison was March 4th, 1841.

The swearing in date has since been changed from March 4th to January 20th of the appropriate year.

The inauguration of Roosevelt and Vice President John Nance Garner, the Speaker of the House during the 72nd Congress (1931–1933), was the first to occur after the passage of the 20th Amendment. Nicknamed the Lame Duck Amendment, it moved the inauguration date from March 4th to January 20th.

It is kind of interesting how section 124 was given on January 19th , one day before the current swearing in date, which will make it 180 years from the time the revelation was given.

Zechariah has a blind spot
Regarding the Nauvoo Temple?

I began this series by showing how Zechariah prophetically observed that Joseph Smith laid the foundation of the Nauvoo House and his hands shall also finish it.

And yet Zechariah said nothing about Joseph Smith finishing the Nauvoo Temple.

Zechariah was not seeing two important houses of the Lord in Nauvoo, he only saw one.

Because the Nauvoo Temple was never commanded to be built. Jeramiah observed that the saints in Nauvoo primarily lived in the “valley” . Gods people live in the city being in a valley yet the inhabitants built upon the “high places of Baal” which was an abomination which delivered the saints into the hands of the King of Babylon.

Great Confusion about the Need for Two Houses

We have shown in the first three episodes that there was no definitive revelation to build the Nauvoo Temple.

Historical records reveal that there was confusion in the minds of Joseph Smith and the latter-day saints during the Nauvoo period regarding the need for two houses of the Lord to be built within a very short timeframe.

Joseph Smith himself seemed to be somewhat schizophrenic in prioritizing the two construction efforts as he waffled back and forth on which effort should be emphasized.

In February of 1843 Joseph was emphasizing the importance of the Nauvoo House and yet placing the first priority on completing the Nauvoo Temple.

A couple months later in April of 1843, he waffled back and chastised the people for focusing on the Nauvoo Temple to the exclusion of the Boarding House.

And then, in March of 1844, Joseph waffled back again as he proclaimed the Nauvoo Temple to be a higher priority and pondered if it would be better to cease work on the Nauvoo House until the Temple was finished.

I want the Nauvoo House built it must be built, our salvation depends upon it. When men have done what they can or will for the temple, let them do what they can for the Nauvoo House. We never can accomplish our work at the expense of another.” ((Willard Richards, Joseph Smith Diary, discourse of 21 February 1843; cited in WJS, 164–166.))

“there has been too great latitude in individuals for the building of the Temple to the exclusion of the Nauvoo house.” (Willard Richards, Joseph Smith Diary, discourse of 6 April 1843; cited in WJS, 175.)

he did not know but it was best to let the Nauvoo house be till the temple is completed. [W]e need the temple more than anything Else… we will let the Nauvoo house stand till the temple is done and we will put all our forces on the temple—turn all our lumber towards the temple.” ((Ehat thesis, 154; citing Joseph Smith, Diary, 4 March 1844.))

It must have been very frustrating for members of both building committees to be competing with each other for finances and laborers to complete their respective commissions while Joseph was waffling back and forth on priorities.

Once a person simply discards the orthodox narrative and indoctrination, and simply reads the text of section 124 in view of the true historical context, the above confusion is cleared up.

The Lord was specifically mandating the building of the Nauvoo House in sections 88, 97, and 124. He never gave a specific revelatory commandment to build the Nauvoo Temple. This issue appears to be one of the main forks in the road causing the saints to be rejected as a church and completely delivered over to Satan.

Connecting Dots between Sections 124 and 88

In episode three we connected a few dots to show that the Nauvoo House is the Sanctuary that is mentioned not only in section 97, but also in section 88.

Both 88 and 124 reveal that all of the priesthood officers and offices will have a physical room in the Nauvoo House. This amazing structure
becomes a sanctuary during the time of indignation of God’s wrath upon the wicked.

It is in the Nauvoo House sanctuary that the school of the prophets will take place. I believe that when more dots are connected it will be seen that the school of the prophets ultimately prepares the 144,000 for their ministry. My guess is that the law of translation (or quickening of the human tabernacle) will be explained and conducted during this time which will prepare the saints for the catching up into the cloud. It may also be necessary for the missionary work that they must do.

My First Great Epiphany

Many years ago, I took my scriptures on a camping trip and read the entire D&C in two days. I took a notepad and each time a topic came up that interested me I catalogued it and looked for other interrelated passages in other sections as I kept reading.

During that experience I had several ah-ha’s but the biggest epiphany I had was how many promises and prophesies were given regarding specific historical figures that never were fulfilled during their lives.

Critics of Joseph Smith refer to these as “failed prophesies“.

The epiphany that I had was that they were not “failed prophecies”, they were simply “unfulfilled prophecies“.

They were all still going to come to pass, even if the promised literal fulfillment, should require people returning from the dead. The perception was verified when I later began an exhaustive search of ancient prophecy which verified the strange act that God was going to perform.

I feel that epiphany marked the beginning of the grand unsealing of the Doctrine and Covenants to me and Mrs Watcher. I feel the D&C remains a sealed cannon of scripture to everyone that does not believe that all of the unfulfilled promises will yet be fulfilled by the return of the dead.

Although the general narrative about the first laborers of the last kingdom returning to fulfill their assignments was a huge breakthrough for us, we still had more epiphanies to experience. Many years of indoctrination had to be peeled away layer by layer.

It would be a few years later that the sealed narrative regarding the “Nauvoo House” in section 124 would be unsealed to me. Once I realized that virtually the entire section was about the Nauvoo House and that no commandment to build the Nauvoo Temple was contained in it, I finally understood that the sanctuary being addressed was much, much more than just a hotel for strangers which is how it is characterized by the modern church as a “church owned hotel
on the banks of the Mississippi River” in Nauvoo.

Section 124 provides an astounding list of things that the Nauvoo House will be used for.

According to section 124, priesthood ordinances that have been hid from before the foundation of the world will yet be revealed in the Nauvoo House once it is finished.

Here is a partial listing of other things will be done in this amazing sanctuary:

  • Boarding House for strangers (the sons of Abraham) coming from all over the world
  • Anointings
  • Washings
  • Baptisms for the dead
  • Solemn assemblies
  • Memorials for the sacrifices by the sons of Levi
  • Oracles in your most holy places wherein ye you receive conversations
  • Statutes
  • Judgments
  • endowment of all her municipals
  • The ordinance of mine holy house
  • The school of the prophets for the work of the ministry
  • All of the priesthood officers will have rooms in the Nauvoo House

As you can see, the Nauvoo House is not just a hotel for strangers to lodge in.

It is quite a grand sanctuary.

There clearly wasn’t a need for a different house of the Lord in the same city to duplicate any of those things. Much can be learned by parsing through the words and concepts pertaining to this magnificent house of the Lord. Let us address some of these functions in more detail:

The endowment of her municipals

We have spoken in previous blogs about the true scriptural meaning of the word “endowment” and how the definition has been bastardized by the modern church in their masonic temple endowment ritual.

The true endowment is a spiritual endowment from the heavens. It is a tremendous spiritual outpouring of the Holy Ghost. It took place on the day of Pentecost in the New Testament.

Section 38 warned the saints in New York that if they did not go to the Ohio and get the law and the endowment, they would be overcome by the enemy in the secret chambers.

Sadly, the law of consecration was not successfully lived. That covenant that the saints entered into was broken.

Because of this, the saints did not receive the full Pentecostal endowment in Kirtland. Instead, the Lord pronounced them to be condemned. They had to flee Kirtland just as they had to flee Jackson county. Eventually they would need to flee Far West and finally, they would need to flee from Nauvoo. Section 124 specifically promises that if they would “hearken to his voice“. They would not be moved out of their place.

The saints were delivered over to Satan. The saints and the entire world have been overcome by a global secret combination. Hence the “awful situation” that we are in today.

However, the final restoration is about to happen, and the full endowment will be offered in the Nauvoo House for those that are allowed to enter it.

Interestingly, the Governor of the house will only allow those that are pure to enter it.

“..This house shall be a healthful habitation if it be built unto my name, and if the governor which shall be appointed unto it shall not suffer any pollution to come upon it. It shall be holy..”

This seems to offer a typological parallel to the foolish virgins who are not allowed to enter into the wedding feast.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Solemn Assembly

One of the most important events associated with the Nauvoo House and more specifically the solemn assembly that will be held in the Nauvoo House, is for the pure in heart to enter into the presence of the Lord and see the Lord.

Joseph Smith said:

All who are prepared, and are sufficiently pure to abide the presence of the Savior, will see Him in the solemn assembly.

Here is what Joseph Smith said about the endowment when he was attempting to prepare the Kirtland Elders for it:

Endowment Necessary

You need an endowment, brethren, in order that you may be prepared and able to overcome all things;26 and those that reject your testimony27 will be damned.28

The sick will be healed, the lame made to walk, the deaf to hear, and the blind to see,29 through your instrumentality. But let me tell you, that you will not have power, after the endowment to heal those that have not faith,1 nor to benefit them, for you might as well expect to benefit a devil in hell as such as are possessed of his spirit, and are willing to keep it: for they are habitations for devils,2 and only fit for his society.

But when you are endowed and prepared to preach the Gospel to all nations,3 kindreds, and tongues,4 in their own languages,5 you must faithfully warn all,6 and bind up the testimony, and seal up the law,7 and the destroying angel8 will follow close at your heels, and exercise his tremendous mission upon the children of disobedience;9 and destroy the workers of iniquity,10 while the Saints will be gathered out from among them, and stand in holy places11 ready to meet the Bridegroom when he comes.12

I feel disposed to speak a few words more to you, my brethren, concerning the endowment: All who are prepared, and are sufficiently pure to abide the presence of the Savior, will see Him in the solemn assembly.13

The brethren expressed their gratification for the instruction I had given them. We then closed by prayer, when I returned home and retired to rest.—DHC 2:308–310.

The pure in heart that enter the Nauvoo House will participate in the solemn assembly, be endowed with power and will see God.

Oracles in your most holy places wherein
ye you receive conversations

Many of us have all been indoctrinated to think that holy conversation with the Lord wherein calling and election takes place followed by the other comforter which is to be personally taught by the Lord through holy conversations, usually come in the privacy of our own home or in the woods or on the mountain top.

However, it appears as if the vast majority of the elect in the third watch will have those sacred and holy experiences in the designated place for such an event, even the Nauvoo House.

Even after realizing that those things listed in section 124 pertain to the Nauvoo House and not the Nauvoo Temple, I received further clarity and food for thought after realizing that section 88 contained a preliminary explanation of the events that would take place in the Nauvoo House.

For instance, the term “washings” in section 124 was troublesome to me because my LDS background associated the term with the goofy masonic temple endowment.

However, the washings spoken of in section 124 are not referring to the washings of an occult ritual. They are speaking of true ordinances. One such ordinance that epitomizes washings might be baptisms for the dead.

Perhaps even more to the point, section 88 explains that all of the priesthood holders that are admitted into the Nauvoo House must be washed clean from the blood and sins of the world through the ordinance of washing of feet which is an ordinance specifically for those in the school of the prophets involved in the work of the ministry:

136 Behold, verily, I say unto you, this is an ensample unto you for a salutation to one another in the house of God, in the school of the prophets.

137 And ye are called to do this by prayer and thanksgiving, as the Spirit shall give utterance in all your doings in the house of the Lord, in the school of the prophets, that it may become a sanctuary, a tabernacle of the Holy Spirit to your edification.

138 And ye shall not receive any among you into this school save he is clean from the blood of this generation;

139 And he shall be received by the ordinance of the washing of feet, for unto this end was the ordinance of the washing of feet instituted.

140 And again, the ordinance of washing feet is to be administered by the president, or presiding elder of the church.

141 It is to be commenced with prayer; and after partaking of bread and wine, he is to gird himself according to the pattern given in the thirteenth chapter of John’s testimony concerning me. Amen.

Here is what Joseph Smith had to say about the ordinances and the washing of feet:

Special Ordinances

You want to know many things that are before you, that you may know how to prepare yourselves12 for the great things that God is about to bring to pass. But there is one great deficiency or obstruction in the way, that deprives us of the greater blessings; and in order to make the foundation of this Church complete and permanent, we must remove this obstruction, which is, to attend to certain duties that we have not as yet attended to.13

I supposed I had established this Church on a permanent foundation14 when I went to Missouri, and indeed I did so, for if I had been taken away, it would have been enough, but I yet live, and therefore God requires more at my hands.15 The item to which I wish the more particularly to call your attention to-night, is the ordinance of washing of feet.16

This we have not done as yet, but it is necessary now, as much as it was in the days of the Savior;17 and we must have a place prepared,18 that we may attend to this ordinance aside from the world.

We have not desired as much from the hand of the Lord through faith and obedience, as we ought to have done, yet we have enjoyed great blessings, and we are not so sensible of this as we should be. When or where has God suffered one of the witnesses or first Elders of this Church to fall? Never, and nowhere.

Amidst all the calamities and judgments that have befallen the inhabitants of the earth,19 His almighty arm has sustained us, men and devils have raged20 and spent their malice in vain. We must have all things prepared,1 and call our solemn assembly2 as the Lord has commanded us, that we may be able to accomplish His great work,3 and it must be done in God’s own way.4

The house of the Lord must be prepared,5 and the solemn assembly called6 and organized in it, according to the order of the house of God;7 and in it we must attend to the ordinance of washing of feet.8 It was never intended for any but official members. It is calculated to unite our hearts,9 that we may be one in feeling and sentiment, and that our faith may be strong,10 so that Satan cannot overthrow us,11 nor have any power over us12 here.

It is difficult to put into words just how important and sacred the true solemn assembly and true ordinance of washing of feet, and true endowment are.

Years ago after being falselyendowed” with the apostate masonic endowment in preparation for my upcoming mission to the Bible Belt, I was in the Salt Lake Temple and felt a desire to find a private place to enter into personal prayer.

I noticed a large winding staircase which was off limits without special invitation but for some reason, I felt compelled to walk up the stairs to the next floor of the temple.

Once I got up there, I was in the massive assembly room where I would participate in a false solemn assembly as a member of a bishopric many years later.

I found a closet to pray in and after that, I became curious so a gave treated myself to an unscheduled tour of the temple and began exploring. Eventually I came upon the room where the first presidency and the quorum of the Twelve meet to do the ordinance of the washing of feet.

The room had a very large, magnificent table that everyone sat around. It also had a very large opulent water bowl for the ordinance of washing each other’s feet.

I was in awe as I gazed upon the setting.

At the time I did not realize that they did not have the authority to be participating in that ordinance and that it was an abomination for them to do so.

Poetic Version of Section 124

A reader of this blog who is an RLDS pastor and retired attorney has a gift for structuring revelations in poetic form for greater clarity. This gift is helpful in gaining an additional witness that the Nauvoo Temple was not commanded to be built in section 124.

He recently sent me the following email:

Dear Watcher,

I am still working on your recent posts and find them very enlightening. Today, after reading your Part 3 post, I recalled that I had worked on a poetic version of LDS DC 124 several years ago.

I still am of the opinion that the Lord gives his prophet, seer, and revelator his own headings, and word keys to guide the proper groupings of what is revealed. I believe that is a substantial contribution to your analysis of 124.

So, I went back to the work I did on 124 in 2018, cleaned it up a little and saved it as a pdf file. In the text I bolded the headings and the word indicators showing the pathway through the material. I totally agree with your analysis of how the Lord kept the threads together on the Nauvoo House and that there is absolutely no reference to the commandment to build a temple. [other than the Nauvoo House]

I append a copy of that pdf file because a quick glance through the text with the bolding shows the linkage between the various threads in the revelation.

The COC [RLDS] removed the revelation numbered 124 by the LDS, numbered 107 in pre-1970 RLDS versions. The material was placed in an appendix. Nonetheless, it was considered a revelation by the RLDS at a time when I believe the Church leaders were more converted to the restoration.

His poetic version provides yet another evidence that the Nauvoo Temple was not commanded to be built in that revelation. Click on the following link 124 LDS – Copy to download a PDF of his poetic rendition of section 124

The Nauvoo House will be Massive

In the last episode we covered the fact that the Nauvoo House sanctuary will be massive and possibly somewhat metaphysical.

I don’t pretend to understand all of the details about how large amounts of strangers (Abraham’s children) will inhabit the Nauvoo House (possibly tens of thousands if not over 100,000) along with all of the priesthood quorums listed in the revelation, but I can see multiple possibilities.

I suppose it is possible that groups of people will visit and receive the necessary conversations, foot washings and instruction, and then be assigned places of habitation outside of the holy structure so that other groups can be accommodated.

All of this is pure speculation. What we do know is that the marvelous work will be a massive global work that will dwarf anything that happened during Joseph’s first ministry.

Joseph Smith informed the brethren that the church would one day fill all of North America:

[One] Sunday night [in 1834] the Prophet [Joseph Smith] called on all who held the Priesthood to gather into the little log school [in Kirtland, Ohio]. . . . It was a small house, perhaps 14 feet square. But it held the whole of the Priesthood of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who were there in the town of Kirtland, and who had gathered together to go off in Zion’s camp. . . .

The Prophet called upon the Elders of Israel with him to bear testimony of this work. . When they got through, the Prophet said:

‘Brethren I have been very much edified and instructed in your testimonies here tonight, but I want to say to you before the Lord, that you know no more concerning the destinies of this Church and kingdom than a babe upon its mother’s lap. You don’t comprehend it. . .  . It is only a little handful of Priesthood you see here tonight, but
this Church will [grow until it will] fill North and South America—it will fill the world’
(Conference Report, April 1898, p. 57).

The Marvelous Work and the proclamation appear to be the literal, final fulfillment of the Lord’s commandment to his servants in various watches to take the gospel to every creature:

14 ¶ Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. (Mark 16)

21 Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.
22 For behold, thus said Jesus Christ, the Son of God, unto his disciples who should tarry, yea, and also to all his disciples, in the hearing of the multitude: Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature
23 And he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned;
24 And these signs shall follow them that believe—in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover; (Mormon 9)

64 For, verily, the sound must go forth from this place into all the world, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth—the gospel must be preached unto every creature, with signs following them that believe. (D&C 58)

62 Therefore, go ye into all the world; and unto whatsoever place ye cannot go ye shall send, that the testimony may go from you into all the world unto every creature.
63 And as I said unto mine apostles, even so I say unto you, for you are mine apostles, even God’s high priests; ye are they whom my Father hath given me; ye are my friends;
64 Therefore, as I said unto mine apostles I say unto you again, that every soul who believeth on your words, and is baptized by water for the remission of sins, shall receive the Holy Ghost.
65 And these signs shall follow them that believe
66 In my name they shall do many wonderful works;
67 In my name they shall cast out devils;
68 In my name they shall heal the sick;
69 In my name they shall open the eyes of the blind, and unstop the ears of the deaf;
70 And the tongue of the dumb shall speak;
71 And if any man shall administer poison unto them it shall not hurt them;
72 And the poison of a serpent shall not have power to harm them. (D&C 84)

It is interesting how the Lord has commanded different leaders of his church at different times to take the gospel to every creature and yet none of the different dispensations have fully accomplished this. It is my opinion that all of these priesthood leaders from the New Testament, Book of Mormon and LDS restoration will be returned to participate in the final taking of the gospel to every creature.

It is difficult to comprehend just how massive the numbers will be when the final gathering takes place which begins at the cornerstone of Zion and the Nauvoo House.

It is interesting to note that while sections 88 and 124 both state that all of the priesthood offices and officers will have a room in the boarding house sanctuary, Joseph Smith’s plat of the city of Zion actually showed a grid containing 24 separate and distinct “temples” or “tabernacles” that each represented various levels of priesthood.

Here is a listing of the names of the temples to be built on the painted squares as represented on the plot of the city of zion:

Numbers 10 11 and 12 are to be called house of the lord for the presidency of the high and most holy priesthood after the order of melchizedek which was after the order of the Son of God upon mount Zion city of the new Jerusalem

numbers 7 8 and 9 the sacred apostolic repository for the use of the bishop

numbers 4 5 and 6 the holy evangelical house for the high priesthood of the holy order of god

numbers 1 2 and 3 the house of the lord for the elders of Zion an ensign to the nations

numbers 22 23 and 24 house of the lord for the presidency of the high priesthood after the order of Aaron a standard for the people

numbers 19 20 and 21 house of the lord the law of the kingdom of heaven and messenger to the people for the highest priesthood after the order of Aaron

numbers 16 17 and 18 house of the lord for the Teachers in Zion messenger to the church

numbers 13 14 and 15 house of the lord for the Deacons in Zion helps in government underneath must be written on each house HOLINESS TO THE LORD smith 19761357359 19761357

It is interesting that sections 88 and 124 both state that all of the priesthood offices will have a place in the house and that the plat also seems to detail and assign priesthood to each house in the plat.

I mention this Zion Plat because it is possible that the Nauvoo House that was begun during Joseph’s time may have simply represented the first phase of a large grid containing multiple structures that all combine together to make a massive sanctuary.

In her master’s thesis, Marjorie E Eddy makes the following observation about the Zion Plat that Joseph Smith created. Although Joseph was presumably focusing on Jackson County at the time, she notes that the plat seems to have been instrumental in laying out Nauvoo as well:

While living in Kirtland Ohio, he developed plans for a Zion city at Independence, Missouri. Joseph developed a plat and plan for a city, incorporation the doctrinal concepts or precepts of Zion. During his lifetime, this plan was the basis for cities in Missouri and for Nauvoo Illinois. The religious purposes behind Nauvoo’s settlement are based on Joseph Smith’s concept of Zion ( See “The Precepts of Zion and Joseph Smith’s City of Zion Plan: Major Influences for the Planning of Nauvoo” by Eddy

The Temple of God is Among Men

Another component that needs to be taken into consideration is that at some point, a temple of God will come down from heaven.

Having linked the “SANCTUARY” in section 88 with the “HOUSE” in section 124, let us know link the “TABERNACLE” in chapter 21s of the book of revelation

We can do this using a multiple keyword approach:

“Precious Stones” – “Dwell” – “House” – “Tabernacle”

Section 124 regarding “precious stones
God will “dwell” in the house with his people
Revelation 21 regarding “precious stones

God will “dwell” in his
with his people

26 And send ye swift messengers, yea, chosen messengers, and say unto them: Come ye, with all your gold, and your silver, and your precious stones, and with all your antiquities; and with all who have knowledge of antiquities, that will come, may come, and bring the box tree, and the fir tree, and the pine tree, together with all the precious trees of the earth;

27 And with iron, with copper, and with brass, and with zinc, and with all your precious things of the earth; and build a house to my name, for the Most High to dwell therein.

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;

Interestingly, the dimensions given of that city seem to fit the dimensions of the land of Zion if one uses the designated “center place” in Jackson County and the “cornerstone of Zion” in Nauvoo to create the dimensions of the land of Zion.

At some point we know that Zion from below will be caught up to meet Zion from above.

The Lord hath brought down Zion from above.
The Lord hath brought up Zion from beneath. (D&C 84:100)

It is very interesting to search the Nauvoo historical records to see how Joseph Smith spoke about the Nauvoo House and the Nauvoo Temple and the terminology that he used.

In a letter written in December 22 1841 which contained a revelation in it, Joseph Smith directed John Snider, a member of the Nauvoo House building committee to go on a mission concerning the “building of the houses“.

1841. December 22.d.

Nauvoo,— Decmber 22d. 1841. The word of the Lord came unto Joseph the Seer, verily thus saith the Lord,

Let my servant John Snider take a mission to the Eastern continent, unto all the conferences now sitting in that region, and let him carry a package of Epistles that shall be written by my servants the Twelve. making known unto them their duties concerning the building of my houses which I have appointed unto you saith the Lord, that they may bring their Gold, & their Silver, and their precious stones, and the box-tree, and the Fir-tree, and all fine wood to beautify the place of my sanctuary saith the Lord; and let him return speedily with all means which shall be put into his hands, even so;

Amen. ( https://www.josephsmithpapers.org/paper-summary/appendix-5-document-5-draft-notes-december-1841/1 )

This is worded very interestingly and could be taken multiple ways. It could be used for justification of the Nauvoo Temple or it could be used to prove that the Nauvoo House is the beginning of a grid as is shown in the Zion Plat.

I find it interesting that the houses end up being a “Sanctuary” (singular).

I leave it up to you the reader to divine what is being said here.

Restoring and Redeeming the Dead

One of the fascinating things about the final appointed time of the building of the Nauvoo House Sanctuary of the Lord during the 3rd watch, is that it also marks the time of restoring the dead to life.

With this in mind, read carefully Joseph Smith’s description of the sanctuary narrative in Ezekiel

“Ezekiel after giving a description of the resurrection of the House of Israel, and the coming forth of the stick of Joseph (Book of Mormon,) and its being united with the stick of Judah (the bible;) and also the restoration of the House of Israel, that are in a state of mortality, back upon their own lands, says:

“Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions;
but I will save them out of all their dwelling places wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

And David my servant shall be king over them: and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherin our fathers have dwelt, and they shall dwell therein, even they and their children, and their children’s children, forever; and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.

Moreover, I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabe[r]nacle also shall be with them; yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people, and the heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the mid[s]t of them for evermore.”—Ezek. xxxvii. 23–28.

The above quotation has a particular allusion to that portion of the righteous that will remain in the flesh, and dwell on the earth, and eat the fruit of it. But the difference that will be, Satan will be cast out of the earth, and he will have no power to tempt or deceive them: they will a[l]l be righteous, and not defile themselves any more.

The Lord will set his sanctuary in the midst of them, and they shall multiply and be increased in number,—which they will continue to do, during the Millennium. The fact that they will multiply and increase, shows that they will be in a state of mortality “( See https://www.josephsmithpapers.org/paper-summary/times-and-seasons-15-february-1842/4.)

House- Sanctuary- Tabernacle

The above passages in Ezekiel and Joseph’s commentary of them are quite interesting and revealing. We know that when the 144,000 take the “everlasting gospel” to the terrestrial souls, they will not longer be in apostasy. They will become clean. This is accomplished in part, because Satan is no longer in their midst.

IMO, this all begins with a restoration of people to MORTALITY with the servants of God who had been prepared in the school of the prophets to gather them from all parts of heaven.

This final gathering is not limited to this earth-

Notice Deuteronomy 30:4

3 That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: 5 And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

We often read the scriptures myopically without seeing the larger picture. But things that happen on this earth affect those on the other side of the veil.

Moses was arguably making reference to those in the spirit world that were in attendance in the following passage in Deuteronomy 29:

13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:

Much more can be gleaned from the above quote from Joseph Smith and Ezekiel, but we shall leave that for a future time.

Notice how section 88 reveals that the school of the prophets will be in the “house of God” and how he also uses the term sanctuary and tabernacle as descriptives:

136 Behold, verily, I say unto you, this is an ensample unto you for a salutation to one another in the house of God, in the school of the prophets.

137 And ye are called to do this by prayer and thanksgiving, as the Spirit shall give utterance in all your doings in the house of the Lord, in the school of the prophets, that it may become a sanctuary, a tabernacle of the Holy Spirit to your edification. In part 5 of this series we will dig a little deeper into the proclamation portion of section 124 to gain greater context into the role of Nauvoo and the Nauvoo House in end times prophecy. A reader of this blog has pointed out that Joseph Smith had made an unfinished draft of the proclamation. We will parse it to see if there is anything of significance in it.

  1. L. says:

    And now I am prepared to say by the authority of Jesus Christ, that not many years shall pass, away before the United States shall present such a scene of bloodshed as has not a parallel in the history of our nation: pestilence, hail, famine, and earthquake will sweep the wicked of this generation from off the face of the land, to open and prepare the way for the return of the lost tribes of Israel from the north Country. The people of the Lord, those who have complied with the regulations requisitions of the new covenant, have already commenced gathering together to Zion, which is in the State of Missouri; therefore I declare unto you the warning voice which the Lord has commanded me to declare to this generation, remembering that the eyes of my maker are upon me, and that to him I am accountable for every word I say, wishing nothing worse to my fellow men than their eternal Salvation; therefore, “feer God and give glory to him for the hour of his judgment is come.” Repent ye, repent ye, and embrace the everlasting [HC 1:315] covenant, and flee to Zion before the overflowing scourge overtake you, for there are those now living upon the earth whose eyes shall not be closed in death until they see all these things, which I have spoken, fulfilled. Remember these things; call upon the Lord while he is near, and seek him while he may be found is the exhortation of your unworthy servant.— Joseph Smith. Jr

    Watcher is there a chance that some of the first laborers are still with us?
    To me, in studying early modern revelation that section 7 is placed where it is…

    On a funny sidenote I was reading a introduction narrative in the Joseph Smith Papers Project about Revelation placement that the inspired group assigned for the 1835 Doctrine and covenants used…(by the way these fellows did have the gift of the Holy Ghost and some the true Priesthood [move mountains??])… Joseph Smith papers project writer deduced that it wasn’t by happenstance, and mused the order might have been chosen as the order of importantance… Wow what an astute evaluation, Who knew!!
    It amazes me every day how blinded buy a curse that the card carriers are, even paid to be immersed in the Scriptures and revelations daily ,they seem to be blind to the forest for the trees…

    • Interesting observation.. there is at least on other other time I am aware of when it was prophesied that someone living would remain..

      It is also possible that the intercession and related delay of impending events could have altered that
