Essential Oldies but Goodies Part Five: Discovering the Doctored Covenants

Having addressed the true narrative behind the succession crisis, differentiated between the terrestrial gospel of works and the celestial gospel of grace, viewed the restoration of the gospel through a mystical lens and reviewed the 8,000 timeline of this earths existence in temporal time, we shall now jump into one of the most perplexing historical topics of the restoration; The seemingly contradictory alterations that Joseph Smith made to some of the revelations that he received.

Few Latter day Saints are aware that after approving and canonizing many of his revelations in the Book of Commandments, and having them sustained by the law of common consent by the church membership, just two years later Joseph Smith made some significant changes to several of those revelations and canonized them in the Doctrine and Covenants.

Some of the changes completely reversed the meaning of the original text.

This creates considerable heart burn for many Mormons once they find out about it.

It certainly did for me.

However, after doing extensive research on the topic and becoming aware of the prophetic backdrop behind the secret history of Mormonism, the changes all made Perfect sense to me.

This historical conundrum was transformed from one of the most faith disturbing historical events to one of the most faith promoting historical events of the restoration.

I now believe that all of the revelations in the 1833 Book of Commandments are correct as well as the conflicting one in the 1835 Doctrine and Covenants.

One of the things I have come to realize in my search for truth is that if we embrace and seek to understand the difficult issues in church history, rather than sweeping them under the carpet as if they don’t exist, or placing them on the proverbial “shelf” hoping to get an answer in the after life, we will get faith promoting answers to many of them.

I am providing a few articles having to do with this topic
