Beginning of the Fulfilling of the Covenant
Additional Sources of Validation
I could have and perhaps should have named this series ” The Secret Tribal Identity of the Latter day Saints”
After all, sensationalism sells… right?
But this series is not about selling an idea. It is about providing documentation for those that have the capacity to understand and believe a cryptically embedded prophetic narrative within scripture.
I have covered this theme many times before from different angles.
None of the apologists over at the Interpreter has debunked my interpretations on this issue or any of the other ones I have presented.
They simply remain silent.
Some time ago I sent this documentation about the true identity of John the Baptist to them providing proof from the Inspired Version of the Bible that Elijah the Prophet had returned to reveal the priesthood by hand, seven years prior to his visitation during the secret vision in the Kirtland Temple in 1836.
I challenged them to have it reviewed by all of their highly educated contributors.
I challenged them to try and debunk it.
They remained silent.
The purpose of this series is to provide concrete evidence from the words of Joseph Smith from the two letters to Saxton and Wentworth, (along with corroborating scriptures and events in LDS church history) that the knowledge of the Gospel was taken to the Jews following the rejection of the fulness by the restored Gentile Church, during Joseph Smith’s ministry.
The first part of Joseph Smith’s ministry brought the times of the Gentiles to an end when the fulness was rejected. The second part of his ministry ushered in the ancient dispensation of the gospel of Abraham.
I suspect, from reading section 76 and other sections of scripture that the “New Covenant” spoken of anciently is referring to the all encompassing covenant of Christ that contains varying degrees of salvation. The term “fulness of the gospel” is used when referring to the level of covenant understanding and commitment of the elect who will recieve a celestial inheritance. The term “everlasting gospel” is used by John the Revelator to refer to the level of covenant understanding and commitment of those of the second harvest, who will receive a terrestrial inheritance.
I have previously contended that the missionary work across the great waters began with the secret ushering in of the gospel of Abraham in 1836, followed by Joseph acknowledging that something new must be done for the salvation of the church, followed by the commission that God gave to the Twelve in 1838, represented the taking of the knowledge of the gospel to the Jews after the Gentile Church had broken the everlasting covenant.
That grafting in represented the turning of the hearts of the Jews to their patriarchal fathers as Elijah declared.
Prior to this series, all of my posts regarding this topic were largely built upon the foundation of my interpretation of Section 110 and related passages and events.
In a sense this series presents game-changing information, in the sense that it provides evidence from the words of Joseph Smith that my previous interpretation of Section 110 was correct, yet it really doesn’t matter with regard to changing the outlook of the collective tribe because the indoctrination is to strong among those that sit in darkness.
I have come to the conclusion that we all come with the spiritual genetics to either understand various parts of God’s plan, or not.
Add to that the fact that God keeps things hidden from various branches of his people for his own purposes, and, well, there is not much concern on my part that I am letting the cat out of the bag.
I used to be concerned about potentially interfering with the prophetic outcomes presented in scripture by disclosing this type of documentation but not any more. The false traditions and the strong delusion set by God is just too strong to make a discernible impact on the collective tribe.
If the Latter day Saint Jews collectively had the spiritual potentiality to understand and believe what is being presented, they would not be led into the great deception and associated pain that they are currently headed for.
When did the Setting of God’s Hand the Second Time Begin?
We have demonstrated from the two letters that Joseph Smith wrote to Saxton and Wentworth, that the beginning of the fulfilling of the ancient covenant with God’s ancient covenant people took place at the time the fulness was received and then rejected by the Gentiles during Joseph Smith’s ministry.
It becomes apparent that the beginning of the fulfilling of the ancient covenant is speaking not only about Israel in general, but about the latter day gathering of the Jews, ie, remnant of the tribe of Judah.
As one studies this topic, the “day” of the fulfilling of this ancient covenant is a very long time.
In my opinion, it lasts about four generations and is about to come to an end in a micro-second, although I have been waiting with baited breath for this micro-second for 30 years!.
For a large portion of that day, the Latter day Saint Jews only “begin” to believe and they are only presented with a “knowledge” of the fulness as opposed to actually entering into covenant and living the fulness.
It is not until the end of that “day” that there is a final restoration of the fulness, which creates a polarization and a division within God’s various tribes of people throughout the world.
At that time a portion of the ancient covenant people will choose to enter into covenant, choose to labor for Zion instead of money, and actually gather and begin living the fulness.
Others will choose to labor for money and will reject the fulness because they are taught by the precepts of men and do not have the oil of personal revelation in their lamps. They must experience the “pain” caused by their blindness.
Nevertheless, according to a multiplicity of scriptural passages, those of God’s true ancient covenant people who are deceived when the light shines forth, are still ultimately judged according to men in the flesh after their pain and then redeemed in the second harvest.
Hence the scriptural declarations that “all Israel will be saved“.
We are informed that there are also those not of Israel that will receive a telestial inheritance and also those who are children of darkness that will become Sons of Perdition.
Thanks to Section 76, we can understand that there are different levels of salvation and that all of Israel, even those who are honorable men that are deceived by the craftiness of men will be saved in the second harvest.
An Emergence of Additional Scriptural Witnesses
Once a prophetic narrative is revealed to a person who is searching God’s word, it is remarkable how scriptures that were previously obscure to them, begin to emerge and make sense and to provide additional validation.
Take for instance 3 Nephi 28:1 which informs us that the latter day restoration of the Children of Israel to the lands of their inheritance begins when the Book of Mormon comes forth.
1 And now behold, I say unto you that when the Lord shall see fit, in his wisdom, that these sayings shall come unto the Gentiles according to his word, then ye may know that the covenant which the Father hath made with the children of Israel, concerning their restoration to the lands of their inheritance, is already beginning to be fulfilled. 3 Nephi 29:1
That is an incredible validation that the restoration of God’s ancient covenant people, the Jews, was to begin during the day of Joseph’s ministry when he brought forth the words that are contained in 3rd Nephi.
Obviously, religious history outside of Mormonism has no record of the ancient covenant people of the Lord beginning to gather at the time that the Book of Mormon was coming forth. And yet, hidden in plain site we have the following passages from the dedicatory prayer of the Kirtland Temple:
61 But thou knowest that thou hast a great love for the children of Jacob, who have been scattered upon the mountains for a long time, in a cloudy and dark day.
62 We therefore ask thee to have mercy upon the children of Jacob, that Jerusalem, from this hour, may begin to be redeemed;
63 And the yoke of bondage may begin to be broken off from the house of David;
64 And the children of Judah may begin to return to the lands which thou didst give to Abraham, their father.
It is no coincident that those passages came AFTER the fulness was rejected by the Gentiles.
Those amazing passages in the dedicatory prayer documented that Joseph Smith knew that the beginning of the gathering of God’s ancient covenant people was about to begin being fulfilled at that time in history despite the condemnation of the leaders and members of the church in December of 1834.
The dedicatory prayer was given in 1836.
Shortly after that, Joseph declared that something new must be done for the salvation of the church.
Following that, the commission given in Section 118.
That prayer preceded and ignited the mandate to the Quorum of the Twelve given in Section 118 that resulted in the establishment of foreign missions across the great waters.
It resulted in the grafting in of the natural branches as tens of thousands of converts began to come to the knowledge of the fulness of the Gospel that is contained in the Book of Mormon.
Some of the converts crossed the great waters over to the land that God had given to the seed of Abraham and began coming to Nauvoo and then to Utah. Others began gathering into “Stakes” all over the world, remaining in a scatter condition while gathering into the tribal knowledge of the fulness.
Those passages in Section 109 show that Jerusalem is in America in the latter days.
Prior to that, Section 38 had documented the fact that the land of milk and honey is in America.
America is the promised Abrahamic land covenant for the entire house of Israel.
While countless protestants are under the false allusion that the restoration of the Jews to the lands of their inheritance began to take place in the Old World Jerusalem in the 1940’s, the truth is that the true gathering began to take place a century earlier in this country.
The restoration of God’s people theme, that shows up in the Book of Mormon informs us that the terms “house of Israel” and “Jews” are often used interchangeably.
We are also informed that once the restoration is finally complete, God’s people shall no longer be confounded:
18 Wherefore, our father hath not spoken of our seed alone, but also of all the house of Israel, pointing to the covenant which should be fulfilled in the latter days; which covenant the Lord made to our father Abraham, saying: In thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
19 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, spake much unto them concerning these things; yea, I spake unto them concerning the restoration of the Jews in the latter days.
20 And I did rehearse unto them the words of Isaiah, who spake concerning the restoration of the Jews, or of the house of Israel; and after they were restored they should no more be confounded, neither should they be scattered again. And it came to pass that I did speak many words unto my brethren, that they were pacified and did humble themselves before the Lord.
Another passage that becomes intelligible after this general concept has been revealed, is found in Section 45. In the passages below, I am adding some descriptives for added clarity.
24 And this I have told you concerning Jerusalem [the city of God’s covenant people]; and when that day shall come, shall a remnant [of the Jews (House of Israel) ] be scattered among all nations;
25 But they shall be gathered again; but they shall remain [in their scattered condition] until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
26 And in that day [that the Lord has set his hand a second time to restore his people, ] shall be heard of wars and rumors of wars, and the whole earth shall be in commotion, and men’s hearts shall fail them, and they shall say that Christ delayeth his coming until the end of the earth.
27 And the love of men shall wax cold, and iniquity shall abound.
28 And when the times of the Gentiles is come in [again] , a light shall break forth among them that sit in darkness, [the blinded shepherds and sheep of the kingdom of the Jews] and it shall be the fulness of my gospel;
29 But they receive it not; for they perceive not the light, and they turn their hearts from me because of the precepts of men.
30 And in that generation shall the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. (D&C 45:18-30)
Translation: At the time of Joseph Smith’s ministry and the coming forth of the book of Mormon, a remnant of God’s covenant people, the Jews, were in a scattered condition among all nations.
They were to remain in that scattered condition until the times of the gentiles were fulfilled during Joseph’s ministry. The times of the Gentiles was fulfilled by a series of events.
They were condemned by the Lord in 1832 for taking the Book of Mormon and Book of Commandments lightly.
The leaders and members of the church were condemned again in December of 1834 for failing to live the gospel law that had been given in section 42, including consecration.
They were rejected as a church sometime between 1841 and the death of Joseph Smith. (They were condemned and rejected as a church by the Lord because they had rejected the fulness of the Gospel and broke the everlasting covenant and had failed to repent and reform within the time allotted)
After the times of the Gentiles was fulfilled during Joseph’s ministry, God once again set his hand to gather other remnants Israel including remnants of the Jews who had rejected his invitation the first time around, during Christ’s earthly ministry in the meridian of time.
The Signs are Currently Being Manifested
During the day of God’s mercy to the House of Israel, that has been going on now for four generations, the signs of the times are being manifest- there “shall be heard of wars and rumors of wars, and the whole earth shall be in commotion, and men’s hearts shall fail them”
I believe those signs of the times are now being appearing all around us.
It is during this generation that these signs are being manifest, that the dispensation of the Gospel of Abraham comes to and end and “the times of the Gentiles is come in [again]”
During this time when the signs are manifest, “a light shall break forth among them that sit in darkness, and it shall be the fulness of the gospel”
Sadly, the latter day Saint Jews as a collective tribe, when presented with the opportunity to transition from the “knowledge” of the fulness which is clearly documented in the four standard works that they profess to believe in, to actually entering into covenant and living the fulness, will receive it not; for they perceive not the light, and they turn their hearts from me because of the precepts of men.”
The Fulfillment of the Ancient Covenant
If the beginning of the fulfillment of God’s ancient covenant to restore the Jews took place during Joseph’s ministry, when does the finale take place?
The above passage informs us that it takes place when the times of the Gentiles finally comes in again when a light shines forth and the fulness is offered to those that sit in darkness.
Who are those that sit in darkness?
I believe it is those among the kingdom of God’s ancient covenant people who are guided by the precepts of men instead of by revelation.
I realize that these scriptural concepts are not obvious ones and that they must seem very obscure and difficult to believe. This prophetic narrative that took place with our grandfathers seems shrouded in secrecy.
Why the secrecy?
Why does God have and keep secrets?
Why does he share his secrets with his prophets?
Why do his prophets sometimes keep the secrets from his people?
Joseph Smith said, “I can keep a secret until doomsday!”
Over the last 30 years of parsing through the secret history of Mormonism I have come to believe that Joseph Smith clearly knew things that he was not sharing with the Saints of the restored church.
The following remembrance of Daniel Tyler indicates that Joseph was aware of what would happen within just 12 years when he made the following prediction in 1830:
“Boys, you think I am a Prophet, and want to hear all I have to say. ‘Now, said he’, “if I should tell you all I know that will come to pass within twelve years, perhaps there would not one of you believe it, and would apostatize from the Church. But I shall let you learn things as they happen, then most likely you will all stand in the Church.” (Recollections of the Prophet Joseph Smith, as related by Elder Daniel Tyler http://www.boap.org/LDS/Early-Saints/REC-JS.html)
The Secret Vision in 1836
Pertaining to the Keys of Gathering Latter day Jews
For years I wondered why Joseph and Oliver never publicly spoke about the secret vision behind the veil which is recorded in Section 110
Why did the keys of the gathering of Israel and the ushering in of an ancient dispensation of the gospel of Abraham need to be kept a secret at the time it happened?
Seal Up the Vision
Daniel referred to this amazing secretive event when he prophesied of an event that would follow the transgression of the saints (rejection of the fulness) and bring the declaration of forgiveness of sins that Christ made when he appeared to Joseph and Oliver.
In my opinion, Joseph and Oliver were commanded by God to seal up the account of the vision they had when Christ and three ministering angles appeared to them and ushered in an ancient dispensation and bestowed the keys of the Gathering of Israel that would make possible the beginning of the fulfillment of God’s ancient covenant with his ancient covenant people:
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy [place]. Daniel 9:24
Following the deaths of Joseph and Oliver, when the record of that event was finally found sealed up in a contemporary Church Historical Journal with no other entries following it, Brigham and his brethren of the Twelve Apostles had to construct an interpretive narrative that was consistent with their claims of being the true church that had been restored.
Hence a false interpretive narrative was superimposed over the actual narrative that is given in the record.
This is understandable since the Utah Church was still under the allusion and delusion that they had the fulness of keys and priesthood.
They considered themselves to be the true and living church that Joseph had restored, hence, they assumed that the “dispensation of the Gospel of Abraham” must have been part of the restitution of all things that was to be part of the final refreshing that will take place during the third watch:
¶Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
However, as documented in previous posts and articles, the above referenced “times of restitution” did not take place during Joseph’s ministry. It has not taken place yet. It is a future event.
Joseph did not usher in the “times of restitution“.
He did not usher in the dispensation of the fulness of times.
The scriptures and history of the church are very clear about that.
Depending on which publication or article you read, the apostate church claims the dispensation of the fulness of times was ushered in at the time of the first vision in 1820, or when the church was legally organized in 1830, or during the account contained in Section 110, in 1836.
The truth is that Joseph acknowledged in Section 128, given in 1842, that the dispensation of the fulness of times was just beginning to be ushered in at that time.
Clearly it still needed to be ushered in in 1842 and clearly it was not successfully ushered in between that time and the martyrdom.
We know from scripture and historically documented declarations of Joseph, that the completion of the ushering in of that dispensation that was beginning to be ushered in in 1842 was contingent on the the saints repenting an reforming which they did not do.
It was contingent on the restoration of the fulness of the priesthood which had been lost. But it clearly was not restored again prior to Joseph’s death.
It was contingent on the completion of the Nauvoo Temple. But regardless of the claims of historical revisionists and sophists, it was never completed and accepted of the Lord during that generation.
The fulness had been rejected, the true and living church had fled back into the wilderness, and the keys of the kingdom had remained with Joseph, even though the oracles he had brought forth remained with the saints.
It is easy to see why the apostate church interpreted Section 110 the way they did when it was first published in the Deseret News in the 1850’s, but why did the Lord have Joseph and Oliver conceal one of the most important events in the history of mankind from the Saints when it happened in 1836?
Why was this amazing event kept hidden?
I have had my suspicions which I have alluded to from time to time in past blog posts and articles. As a result of the documentation provided in this series, my suspicions have now been confirmed by the compelling content of the two letters to newspaper editors.
The Secretive Disclosure in 1833
The Grafting in of the Latter day Jews
A great secret that has been kept from the church is the fact that the second great missionary effort across the great waters that resulted in thousands of converts flowing into Nauvoo, represented the beginning of the fulfillment of the ancient prophecies about the Lord setting his hand a second time to gather his ancient covenant people the Jews.
That most important historical act appears to have been documented in Joseph’s letters to Saxton in 1833 and to Wentworth in 1838. Nevertheless, they were documented in such a way that it is not easy for the casual reader who has not searched deeply into the word of God, to understand.
Just as curious is the fact that this information appears to have been intentionally omitted from the official account of Moroni’s visit.
Why were the saints kept in the dark on this revolutionary turn of events that grafted in the natural branches and kept the roots of the tree alive?
There is some poetic irony in the fact that Brigham Young was parroting the protestant teaching that the Jews were not willing to believe in Christ until Christ returns, at the very time that he and his fellow apostles had been converting and gathering the latter day Jews who were beginning to believe in Christ. Indeed, it appears as if Brigham himself and his brethren of the Twelve were Jews!
“..Can you make a Christian of a Jew? I tell you, nay… No.. it is impossible to convert the Jews, until the Lord God Almighty does it ” Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 2 (1854), p. 142.
Contrary to what Brigham was teaching about the Jews, the Book of Mormon had prophesied that in the latter days, prior to the Lord’s return, the Jews would first begin to believe before they gather to the lands of their inheritance in America in the last days.
Nevertheless, Brigham had been indoctrinated by the protestant belief that the Jews would gather and not believe in Christ until everyone else had been saved.
The Secretive Commentary on Revelation 9 in 1832
The “Jewish Nation” Gathers to the “Land of their Fathers”
In 1832, Joseph Smith made a cryptic prophetic declaration in response to a question asked about the two witnesses in chapter 11 of the Book of Revelation
Q. What is to be understood by the two witnesses, in the eleventh chapter of Revelation?
A. They are two prophets that are to be raised up to the Jewish nation in the last days, at the time of the restoration, and to prophesy to the Jews after they are gathered and have built the city of Jerusalem in the land of their fathers.
Interestingly, the phrase “land of their fathers” never shows up in the Old or New Testaments. It shows up three times in the Book of Mormon, always have context to America.
The “time of restoration” is obviously referring to the final restoration that is about to take place in the 3rd watch when the Marvelous Work and a Wonder begins and ushers in the Dispensation of the Fulness of Times.
I believe Joseph knew damn well when he made that declaration, that the “Jewish nation” was about to be gathered to the “lands of their fathers”, (in America), through the instrumentality of the Twelve who had previously been called by revelation to take the knowledge of the gospel to both the Gentile and the Jew, as documented previously in this series.
The time of the RESTORATION that God was about to orchestrate would be through him and the Twelve.
The significance of what Joseph was doing in grafting in the natural branches during the Nauvoo period, would not be understood by the saints of that day. The would be oblivious to what was taking place.
Fast forward four generations and we are now getting read to see the fulfillment of Joseph’s narrative about the two prophets visiting the Jewish Nation. However the elect need to be gathered out first, and that could take a few years.
The brief Book of Revelation account of when the two witnesses harass the Jews of the latter day church and call them to repentance, for a period of forty and two months, takes place in the “great city” which is SPIRITUALLY called Sodom and Egypt, differentiating it from the ancient city called by those names.
The latter day city is where “our Lord ALSO WAS CRUCIFIED“, possibly indicating that the latter day Jews will once again crucify the Lord just as their forefathers did, be it figuratively by rejecting him when he and his servants return with the fulness, or otherwise. (Rev 11:8)
The narrative goes on to inform us that after the martyred prophets lay dead in the streets, they are brought back to life and raptured up to God. That is followed by an earthquake and the slain of 7,000 men. Following that terrible chastisement, a remnant of the stiff-necked Jews finally repent and “gave glory to the God of Heaven“.
Modern revelation notes the amazing mercy of God in declaring that ” the tribe of Judah, after their pain, shall be sanctified in holiness…to dwell in his presence“.
Praise God almighty!
We know from the Book of Mormon and modern revelation that America is that land of the Abrahamic land covenant. It was the promised land to the seed of Abraham and all of the tribes of Israel.
We know that virtually every time the words restore and restoration are used in the Book of Mormon regarding end times prophecy it is referring to the restoration of God’s people to the knowledge of the true messiah and to the lands of their inheritance.
The restoring of God’s covenant people to the knowledge of the gospel and the lands of their inheritance (and to stakes throughout the world) is what the grafting in of the natural branches was all about that Paul and the Book of Jacob was speaking about.
This is why it is so important to realize that even though the saints were rejected AS A CHURCH in Nauvoo, they were still a tribal kingdom of God’s ancient covenant people. They were fulfilling prophecy and they were re-establishing the ancient kingdom of Israel in the latter days.
To better wrap one’s mind around this secret narrative regarding God’s ancient covenant people that have been hidden from the understanding of the world, and by God’s people, I highly recommend the following primer to new readers of this blog
