Black and White Robes- Part One

..the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple,
even the messenger of the [false] covenant, whom ye delight in.

Verse one of the third chapter of Malachi must be read in context in order to understand the cryptic message embedded within. One must first read chapters one and two of Malachi and realize that a foundation is being laid for the proper context of chapter three.

Chapters one and two make it clear that Israel is in an apostate condition just before the return of three returning leaders mentioned in that chapter. These three shepherds represent the forces of good and evil preparing for the final battle on the earth.

It is essential to realize that Israel was in an apostate condition anciently and also in the end times when they are delighting in a false covenant.

Indeed Israel is delighting in a false covenant just prior to the return of the true messenger who will sit as a refiners fire. Also returning is the false messenger.

At the center of attention may well be a false covenant the latter day Israel had previously been initiated into . The pure and simple baptismal covenant (The New and Everlasting Covenant) with the spiritual endowment referred as the baptism of fire and the gift of the Holy Ghost had previously been exchanged for an outer ceremonial covenant/endowment involving robes, secret signs and secret tokens.

In chapter one of Malachi the Lord chastises the priests of Israel, telling them that they offer polluted bread upon the alter and that the Lord does not accept the offering at their hand;

A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord is contemptible…. I have no pleasure in you, saith the Lord of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.”

Chapter two is more of the same. God chastises the leaders of Israel because they do not give glory unto him. He therefore curses them;

And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

Latter day revelation confirms the fact that the latter day church will be in a scattered condition among the Gentiles with the curses of God upon their necks;

…the bands of her neck are the curses of God upon her, or the scattered remnants of Israel in their scattered condition among the Gentiles” (section 113)

Malachi continues, God is angry because Israel has profaned the covenant;

why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers

It is helpful in understanding the 1st verse of Malachi 3, that every time the King James version of the bible uses the term LORD in caps, it is referring to JEHOVAH, the God of the Old Testament, who is Jesus Christ, yet when it uses the term Lord (not in caps) it does not necessarily refer to JEHOVAH. It may sometimes refer righteous or wicked mortal rulers and perhaps even dark angels and those who try to make themselves worshiped by others.

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me:

AND

the Lord, [ruler] whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the [false] covenant, whom ye delight in:

behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts [Jehovah].

As you dissect Malachi you will notice two righteous messengers that return. chapter 3 verse 1-3 speaks of the messenger that sits as a refiner of the Sons of Levi. Chapter 4 refers to the return of Elijah the Prophet who shall turn of the heart of the children to their fathers before the great and dreadful day of the Lord begins and the Lord smites the earth with a curse.

It is helpful to have a clear understanding of the return of the latter day Seer and Spokesman as well as their respective missions in order to comprehend the cryptic messages contained in Malachi.

But lets get back to the 3rd Chapter of Malachi later on in this article…

Back in 1973 while on my mission I was told by a companion that in 1960 at the BYU Graduation Ceremony, Hugh Nibley had said, while offering the invocation, something to the effect of “here we stand in the robes of an apostate priesthood.

I came to find out, at a later time, that Nibley had given clarification to the statement he made back in 1960. Nibley had apparently elaborated a little more about black and white robes and caps and how they and the pomp and ceremony that often accompany their use announced that the wearer had accepted certain rules of living and been tested in special kinds of knowledge.

He alluded to the fact that flowing robes were somewhat theatrical and too easily inclined the wearers to become beguiled by their splendor, and the accompanying masquerade and affectation.

The above observation by Nibley is profound.

We mortals have a tendency to get a little full of ourselves under virtually any circumstances. Add black or white flowing robes, ceremonies, titles, certificates and a little bit of learning and we can really get carried away with our self importance.

Many years ago in the 90’s after the Church had made some significant changes to the Temple Endowment, I found myself wanting to ask Hugh Nibley a few questions and to get his views on the situation since he is considered by many to be one of the most knowledgeable scholar on ancient temple rights.

Being the presumptuous and politically incorrect person that I tend to be, I looked up his phone number and called him out of the clear blue to ask him some questions, even though I had never met him before. He did not know me from Adam.

When he answered the phone I said;

Is this Hugh Nibley?”.

There was a long pause on the other end of the phone and with a stern and irritated tone the response was

This is DOCTOR Nibley!

How is that for Irony?

Without skipping a beat I continued interrogating Hugh to see what he thought about the changes that had been made in the temple endowment. Although I recall that his responses to my questions were interesting though somewhat evasive, My memory fails me on the details and it really doesn’t matter since they cannot be documented and therefore are inconsequential for this paper.

Anyway, getting back to the statement that my missionary companion had made about Nibleys remarks at the graduation exercises, I had no way of reading his exact words or evaluating the exact context of the comments at the time, but I felt the comment was very interesting and revealing, if true.

After the mission I pretty much just forgot about what I assumed may have been an apocryphal story until I found an interesting link on youtube wherein Hugh verified and clarified the remarks he made back in 1960. We will review that video later in this article.

For now, lets visit part of the 1828 Webster’s definition of robe;

ROBE, n.

1. A kind of gown or long loose garment worn over other dress, particularly by persons in elevated stations. The robe is properly a dress of state or dignity, as of princes, judges, priests, &c. See Ex. 29:55. 1Sam. 24:4. Matt. 27:28…..   In scripture, the vesture of purity or righteousness, and of happiness. Job 29. Luke 15.

Since robes represented purity, righteousness and happiness in the scriptures, that certainly must be what it represents when worn by those in “elevated stations”… right?

After about 25 years of intense study of the gospel and the history of the church, along with other experiences, I have come to realize that the life we live in this mortal probation is very much an allusion in many ways. Much of what we have been indoctrinated to believe is really not true. Things are not always as they appear. As one drills down deeper and deeper into the scriptures one realizes that many of the cryptic passages mean quite the opposite that they appear to mean. Just like the passage in Malachi 3 this article begins with. As one begins to have their eyes open, it som times feels as if one has entered into the twilight zone.

One day, while speaking to a friend who had been a long time member of the LDS Church I casually mentioned that Satan was the God of this world. The concept was shocking to this person. They rebuked me emphatically and stated that Jesus Christ was the God of this world. I then showed him the following passage in the scriptures;

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2nd Cor 4)

Life is very much an allusion based on the traditions of our fathers. Our quest is to find the truth;

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8)

What do black and white robes symbolize to Americans in general?

What do they symbolize to you?

Are the robes worn by the people pictured below representing honorable and noble dispensers of truth and justice? Just how much faith do you put in them?

robes1

Do you associate the black robe that judges wear with honesty, integrity and justice?

Do they imply that people in certain positions have excelled?

Are these people more important that others because of the learning, the ceremonies, the degrees, certificates the titles of nobility, the robes and titles?

Do they promote equality or class distinction? Are they equitable in the justice they dish out?

Do white robes symbolize justice?

Do white robes symbolize holiness?

Do robes symbolize those who have been initiated into a greater state of higher knowledge, power and authority?

What about scarlet robes? Let us not forget that scarlet is an important biblical color as well;

And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON, THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Rev 17

And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth…For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” Rev 17 & 18

The book of Mormon Identifies who the Great and Abominable Church of the Devil is;

And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me, saying: Look! And I looked and beheld many nations and kingdoms. And the angel said unto me: What beholdest thou? And I said: I behold many nations and kingdoms.

And he said unto me: These are the nations and kingdoms of the Gentiles. And it came to pass that I saw among the nations of the Gentiles the formation of a great church.

And the angel said unto me: Behold the formation of a church which is most abominable above all other churches, which slayeth the saints of God, yea, and tortureth them and bindeth them down, and yoketh them with a yoke of iron, and bringeth them down into captivity.

And it came to pass that I beheld this great and abominable church; and I saw the devil that he was the founder of it. And I also saw gold, and silver, and silks, and scarlets, and fine-twined linen, and all manner of precious clothing; and I saw many harlots.

And the angel spake unto me, saying: Behold the gold, and the silver, and the silks, and the scarlets, and the fine-twined linen, and the precious clothing, and the harlots, are the desires of this great and abominable church. And also for the praise of the world do they destroy the saints of God, and bring them down into captivity.” 1 Nephi 13

It is not difficult to figure out which Church the angel is speaking about. But it is difficult to understand how that church can still be wreaking the havoc it wreaked anciently, in modern times unless you search deeply.

Deep within the bowels of that particular church there a secretive society of priests  that manipulates all other secret organizations. It controls the Free Masons. It controls the Federal Reserve. It controls the central banks of all countries. It controls the CIA and FBI and the governments of all countries.

It is the same organization that was behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and President Kennedy. It is the organization that can trace its secret oaths and covenants all the way back to the covenant that Satan made with Cain. It is responsible for the blood of all the Saints.

Getting back to the statement of Hugh Nibley… Some time ago, I noticed the following clip on youtube wherein Hugh Nibley, at another commencement address he gave on August 19, 1983 verified and gave a little clarification to the remarks he had made back in 1960;

Hugh Nibley Video Click here if video does not show up in blog

23 years ago today if you will cast you minds back on this same occasion I gave the opening prayer in which I said, quote; we have met here today clothed in the black robes of a false priesthood“.

You can read the full text of Nibley’s 1983 address here.

Naturally, 23 years is a long time between his initial remarks and the commentary he gave at a later time. During that time Doctor Nibley could have mellowed out a little. He may also have had a little pressure from unseen forces to do a little damage control and to soften his meaning. Nevertheless, his remarks in 1983 still have some very interesting information in them.

Recently, on a popular blog about the LDS temple, the above youtube clip was shown and the following comments were made by an LDS prophecy scholar;

Nibley’s observations were neither casual nor mistaken. The cap and gown traditionally worn at commencement exercises is no less than a variation of the temple garment, appropriated by the secular, educational wing of the ’science church’ in order to secure more gravitas. This is the same church that Nephi saw in vision.

That we Saints fail to see this amazed and dismayed the good doctor, who clearly understood this truth. This led him to reveal this astounding irony by pleading for God’s forgiveness.

That earnest plea was not said with tongue in cheek, but with the utmost sincerity born of a profound knowledge and understanding of the past and the present. It was far more than a mere denunciation of simple worldliness; it was a condemnation of our profound ignorance. Anthony Larson

I find that passionate commentary of Brother Larson very thought provoking.

The significance of Nibley’s comments may well be referring to the fact that the net effect of the great and abominable church and its false priesthood on society goes much deeper than just the secular and educational aspects of our revered system of justice and our esteemed educational system.

Indeed, the implication is that the false Priesthood Nibley refers to has to some degree affected, if not contaminated the deeper aspects of the way latter day Israel worships.

Although it may appear to some that societal ceremonies have copied the pure and holy ritualistic robes of the LDS endowment ceremony, the bone chilling possibility from a historical and scriptural point of view suggests just the opposite.

Is it not possible that a false or apostate priesthood has adversely affected the true covenant between God and Israel and its associated endowment?

False priesthood begets a false covenant which begets a false endowment. It is critically important to know what the true, New and Everlasting Covenant is. I it critically important to understand what the true spiritual endowment is that is associated with it. If these plain and simple concepts are not understood, one can be duped into thinking there is a higher law, a higher covenant and a higher endowment the the true law, covenant and endowment that had already been delivered.

In the prophetic context, this brings us to the subject of the so-called anti-Christ and his companions in crime… or, as the Book of Revelation characterizes them, the false prophet, the beast and the dragon.

Christ warned;

I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. John 5

This would indicate that the time would come when someone would make an appearance among latter day Israel, possibly, according to some passages of scripture, someone who is returning from the past, and he would be accepted by many.

When taken in context of Malachi’s remarks, it becomes apparent that this greatly revered person would be loved by latter day Israel because of the false covenant that he had initiated Israel into, the false covenant that replaced the true covenant and the associated endowment that replaced the true endowment.

One of the underlying themes of the Prophet Daniel was that the great deceiver would beguile Israel in the Latter Days and get them to enter into a false covenant that will lead them in the subtle overspreading of abomination right up to the consummation. (Dan 9)

Daniel describes the great deceiver as the one that takes away the true form of worship, even the daily sacrifice. He casts the truth to the ground. (Dan 8)

Daniel saw that the great deceiver would;

have indignation against the holy covenant..” and that he would “Return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.

He notes thatarms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate

It is difficult to comprehend that latter day Israel could actually be duped into a false covenant and raise their hands to sustain someone who is replacing the true covenant with a false one.

Daniel notes that a subtle form of flattery would be the means of seducing others into the false covenant;

And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits...”

The following observation that Daniel shares is that the king that has deceived Israel, will return and exalt himself and magnify himself above every God;

And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all”. Dan 1136-37

This person being described by Daniel seems to be the exact same man of sin that Paul prophesied about;

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, aor be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter  as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?” 2nd Thes 2

Isaiah reveals that the true Covenant would be broken by latter day Israel;

“The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.” Isa 24

Isaiah also prophesied about the refuge of lies that would need to be swept away and the false covenant that would need to be disannulled as the Lord begins his work, his strange work, even his strange Act;

“Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report. For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it. For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act” Isaiah 28

Although it is hard to believe that God’s people could be deceived into discarding the true covenant with God for a false Satanic covenant, we should not take lightly the prophetic warnings in God’s holy word.

One of the ways to help us to avoid entering into covenant with Satan is to study the characteristics of his covenant relationships.

As recipients of the greater light provided by additional scripture, we have information that the world does not have. For instance, we know that Satan and Cain entered into covenant by way of a secret oath taken under penalty of death and vengeance that involves swearing by the throat;

And Satan said unto Cain: Swear unto me by thy throat, and if thou tell it thou shalt die; and swear thy brethren by their heads, and by the living God, that they tell it not; for if they tell it, they shall surely die; and this that thy father may not know it; and this day I will deliver thy brother Abel into thine hands. And Satan sware unto Cain that he would do according to his commands. And all these things were done in secret.” Moses 5

From this we find a few of Satans covenantal trademarks which include secrecy, oaths of vengeance and swearing by ones neck.

Conversely, the Lord God of Israel has commanded us to never swear by our heads;

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.” See Mat. 5 & 3rd Nephi 12

Those familiar with Masonry realize that in their Satanic endowment ritual the newly initiated participant is led by a cord or rope around the neck. The tie-in between Masonry and the following scripture cannot possibly be coincidental;

And there are also secret combinations, even as in times of old, according to the combinations of the devil, for he is the founder of all these things; yea, the founder of murder, and works of darkness; yea, and he leadeth them by the neck with a flaxen cord, until he bindeth them with his strong cords forever. 2nd Nephi 26

    Juicy stuff. I’m on the same page so far.

    Every time I read a scripture about the abased being exalted and the exalted being abased I just shake my head in awe. It’s so obvious now.

    I can’t wait for the next installment.

  2. TruthSeekerToo says:

    Okay, after reading Malachi with new eyes I am just stunned. Wow!

    I especially liked the new understanding of “robbing God.” Clearly the children of Isreal are giving tithes and offering but they are not going to the storehouse to feed the poor. Hmmmmmmmm.

    Chapter 2 even discloses the EXACT sin they get involved in! Vs 14-16.

    The thing I love best about your articles, Watcher, is that they really build my testimony in the truthful of the scriptures.

  3. NEPT says:

    I’m glad to see you finally busted this one out.

  4. Fabledsog says:

    Im so thankful, I never participated in such things, and Im extremely sorry for those that did. What stopped me was listening to the promptings of the Holy Ghost, of not putting in mission papers, but telling me to go to the Lord’s House, and if I kept following the promptings I’d be able to. Never told me when :). I suppose the Lord wanted me to gradually find out, stead of laying it on me full force, that what I thought was the Lord’s House, was in fact the other way around…and even then, I don’t want to preach that we have the Restored Gospel, when in fact we don’t.

    And I bet, and I think Ive read, that to go on a mission that going to the unholy temple is required. My previous leaders(it felt good not sustaining them in ward conference) thought I was apostatizing, and I wasnt listening to the Holy Ghost.. gift of discernment is remarkable..I wish everyone had it..and also it always struck me bizarre, that the church expects that every man to go on a mission, but expects them to support most of the service. Cant sacrifice what you don’t have. I don’t like freebies, but I don’t want my Father to suffer, hes sacrificed alot already, and the Lord has told me that he’s sacrificed more than our (his and mine) minds can remember. Blessings could be there, but I was prompted to tarry anyways.

    Last Sunday School class, lesson was on the Sabbath, and intro was about the temples. Teacher was bearing testimony of how vistors ask what is this place, and that evil knows what the place is, and how they stay away, and its boundaries, thoughts came to my mind, that the son of mourning cunningly uses certain people to cause distractions or disruptions against the temples to keep the tied ones, and then scriptures of unholy temples, and the Lord not accepting them, and how if they aren’t built after the pattern given. I always ponder what the pattern is, and Kirtland temple, and the tent temple in Moses and Aarons time, of the inner, and the outer parts come to mind, and how simple they were. I doubt that the Celestial room is in the true blueprints. Especially when a taken advantage so called lesser law of tithing, pays to build such large and spacious buildings. When I was doing Baptisms for the Dead, when I was younger, the Logan temple just felt like some historical museum, to be honest I forced myself to believe it was place for the Lord. If the Glory of Lord did truly rest upon it, why did the leaders say don’t expect anything.. then when we got to Sacrament part of the Sabbath, I was thinking about the scriptures of administering the Sacrament, and hows its strayed from the written word. Then Moroni and the prayers came to mind, it made me wonder, how come they were at the end, and not before Christ’s ministering to the Nephites. Then it hit me, could those baptized under the Law of Moses, or Gospel of Abraham be unworthy to partake of the Sacrament, and only those baptized under the Fulness be worthy of it? Then next few days, I read the D&C 20:37, on the Third Watches blog, and Witness before the church that they have truly repented of their sins, popped out, pondering what it meant, and consecration and confessing sins publicly came to mind. With the intermittent source of the Holy Ghost is great, but with the constant companionship, learning will be alot quicker. I hope being excited for that, doesn’t contradict broken heart and contrite spirit.

    In Malachi 3, from what I gather the Lord’s messenger one who prepares the way, comes before the bad guy. Refiner’s fire and fuller soap, keeps juggling in my mind. Could the fire in Hosea 8:14 be a person? And a definition of fullers soap is
    (Heb. borith mekabbeshim, i.e., “alkali of those treading cloth”). Mention is made (Prov. 25:20; Jer. 2:22) of nitre and also (Mal. 3:2) of soap (Heb. borith) used by the fuller in his operations. Nitre is found in Syria, and vegetable alkali was obtained from the ASHES of certain plants. Hmm interesting.
    Either way it plays, the bad guy isn’t going to be too happy that the messenger calls the bluffs…neither the ones wise in their own conceits…or foolish.

    Fabled, sorry if i wrote too much.

    I just have a hunch that one who was never separated from Joseph, just might also have a testimony of the Saviour, and I mean a testimony…that He lives.

  5. TruthSeekerToo says:

    I’m dying to know the rest of the convo with DOCTOR Nibley! Hilarious!

    I’ve been reading so much stuff about rituals (LDS, mason, wicca). I’m reminded of the boiling frog story. How do you boil a frog? You put it in cold water and slowly turn up the heat so it doesn’t realize what is happening.

    Oh, it is also interesting to note that the main thrust of General Conference was temples. A person on one message board mentioned it was creepy to hear “the temple, the temple, the temple…” in one talk.

  6. Fabledsog says:

    I was just searching the scriptures, about the refiner’s fire, and fuller’s soap. and the verse really being about the 1 BEHOLD, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me:
    (Old Testament | Malachi 3:1)
    Since why would the LORD say this, 5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
    (Old Testament | Malachi 3:5)
    Hmm, I doubt And..means also. Another thing, why does the LORD say only the Sons of Levi…dont we have Sons of Moses in our midst..oh wait.

    But anyways to D&C version of Refiner’s Fire, pay close attention to Joseph’s commentary on the subject.
    24 Behold, the great day of the Lord is at hand; and who can abide the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fuller’s soap; and he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. Let us, therefore, as a church and a people, and as Latter-day Saints, offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness; and let us present in his holy temple, when it is finished, a book containing the records of our dead, which shall be worthy of all acceptation.
    25 Brethren, I have many things to say to you on the subject; but shall now close for the present, and continue the subject another time. I am, as ever, your humble servant and never deviating friend,
    JOSEPH SMITH.
    (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 128:24 – 25)
    Did you catch that, Joseph Smith subtlety asked the church and the saints, offer to the LORD an offering in righteousness! Now maybe part of the reason Joseph said If you knew who I was, you’d call it in blasphemy. He knew he was the LORD’s messenger to prepare the way, acting the Spirit of Elias the preparer, which proves even more that Sidney Rigdon is the one to act in the Spirit and Power of Elijah. in Order, there is always a pattern for things even a pattern for servants. My Sunday school teacher brought up the scripture, of one who is like Moses, he said it in a way, that it wasn’t Joseph Smith..I was about to say something that, but the subject changed and I was unable. I being the pondering type, thought about it, if there is type of Moses, who is the type of Hebrew slaves, are we not born slaves to Mammon,(selfish economy) hence, we have to serve it, and we cant really serve the LORD, 24 ¶ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
    (New Testament | Matthew 6:24)Now those crying for deliverance to serve God, and hate mammon, desire for the Fulness of the Gospel, will be numbered among the Children of Light fulfilling the promises made to Father Abraham!, while those who reject it will be children of darkness, which state we are currently in.
    Funny mammon sounds like mammoth, the very mount that Babylon rides? fancy buildings, skyscrapers, etc. Tower of Babel all over again….
    JST, ISAIAH 42:19–23 (compare Isaiah 42:19–22)
    (The Lord will send his servant unto those that are blind.)
    19. For I will send my servant unto you who are blind; yea, a messenger to open the eyes of the blind, and unstop the ears of the deaf;
    20. And they shall be made perfect notwithstanding their blindness, if they will hearken unto the messenger, the Lord’s servant.
    21. Thou art a people, seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears to hear, but thou hearest not.
    22. The Lord is not well pleased with such a people, but for his righteousness’ sake he will magnify the law and make it honorable.
    23. Thou art a people robbed and spoiled; thine enemies, all of them, have snared thee in holes, and they have hid thee in prison houses; they have taken thee for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
    (JST | Isaiah 42:Entry – 23)

    24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.
    25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
    (Old Testament | Isaiah 42:24 – 25) Wonder who that is talking about..and what law?

    Anyways notice the very last verse on D&C 128…he stops about the subject, but said he would continue another time, and when is that suppose to be since he didnt do that in time of his first commission.
    Hmmm…this deep..but its only milk, for we can’t handle the so called meat.

    1 AND I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
    2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
    3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
    (New Testament | 1 Corinthians 3:1 – 3)
    Watered down Milk isn’t really filling is it?

    13 And now I show unto you a mystery, a thing which is had in secret chambers, to bring to pass even your destruction in process of time, and ye knew it not;
    (Doctrine and Covenants | Section 38:13)

    Well if there is anything wrong with what I said, forgive me for I am child of darkness, desiring to be child of Light. And its hard to see in the dark >.O

    Alright Watcher, I’m not going to lie. I’ve been dying for part II. Also it would be great to hear your take on the POGP and how to justify JS inspiration with what has more or less been proven to be funeral rites from the book of the dead. I can’t remember reading anything so far on your feelings towards this. Was this part of his 2nd half or lean years of taking the sins of the people upon his head, or I guess not inspired, which is hard to believe anybody could write that without inspiration.
    Thanks

  9. Ok then… I’ll post part two later today.

    In my humble opinion, the Pearl of Great Price has valid passages of truth in it, however, the PoGP was canonized in 1880 by you know who…. which means that God never commanded it to be canonized.

    The Pearl of Great Price was first compiled by Franklin D. Richards in Liverpool, England in 1851.

    Needless to say the has been a s*#t-storm over the Book of Abraham and how and where it was translated…

    Regardling the Book of Genesis taken from the JST, the perplexing thing to me is that JS was commanded by God to not teach from the JST until the Saints faithfully funded the project so that it could be published to the world in the same cannon as another cannon of scripture.

    For this reason, I think it is a very serious thing that has been done… as far as canonizing it…

    Anyway, as with the Apocrypha much good can be learned while reading it under the influence of the Spirit, but anything in it that contradicts the legitimately canonized records (Bible, Book of Mormon, True portion of the D&C( should be discarded.

    I’ll post on that some other time.

    Keep Watchin

  10. PS

    There are two very good books that address the Book of Abraham that you might enjoy,

    One is “Written by the finger of God” by Joe Sampson

    the other is “Dry Bones” by Alex Joseph, a very colorful polygamous fellow who provides some very thought provoking information.

    Additionally my article on the “Unrestrained Pondering….” while not addressing the specifics of the nay-sayers, demonstrates how totally revelatory and inspired the book is..

    My husband and i have just recently been reading up on all of these posts you have, my father in law told us about you. it is so nice to feel like i finally have some answers for things that no one inside the church could answer. I was wondering where i can find more about the Temple Garment we wear as LDS memebers. If the Temples are not actually backed by God then are these garments pointless? I am having a hard time finding those answers. What are your thoughts on the Garments LDS wear?

    could you guide me to links on the Sacrament? Should we be baptized if they are doing it wrong, i have so many questions….
    thanks

  12. Nikki

    The fact that you and your husband are searching for the truth and really want to know what it is, speaks volumes about you.

    That is wonderful.

    The questions you are asking are very important ones… and sobering ones.

    One of the things I try to do is not give personal opinions but rather share interpretations of scripture and encourage people to get their own confirmation from the spirit as to the correct interpretation of scripture. (and LDS history)

    I also try to never give counsel to others about what they should do.

    As you can see from what you have read, I have serious concerns about the temple endowment based on what the word of God says…

    Your questions about the garment, the sacrament, baptism, etc. are very important.

    I am sorry to be evasive but again, my opinions are not what is important, rather what the scriptures say, that is what is important.

    You are probably taking an awful lot of information in a very short period of time.

    I would encourage you to take things slowly and not be to impulsive. Allow yourself to digest what you are reading. (so much for not giving counsel… LOL)

    Be sure to become self actualizing and learn to search the scriptures by topic and using key words and key phrases for yourself… and invite the spirit to teach you as you become drenched in the word.

    If you have not read all of the numbered posts at http://www.threewatches.blogspot.com first I highly encourage you to do so before reading anything else on this site. this is very deep stuff you are ingesting.

    Once you have done that, there will be additional information regarding the temple in the 2nd and 3rd parts of this post (black and white robes…)

    I am also getting ready to do the next part of my current series which will address the temple in much more detail than any of my previous posts.. although I am having second thoughts about posting it this year…

    Try not to become angry as you learn about the true history of the church and about what the scriptures really teach..

    The Church does appear to have an important calling even though it may be a very different one than what most members believe…

    Thank you for visiting.

    May the Lord bless you and your husband as you seek out the truth.

  13. Rob says:

    Latter day revelation confirms the fact that the latter day church will be in a scattered condition among the Gentiles with the curses of God upon their necks;

    “…the bands of her neck are the curses of God upon her, or the scattered remnants of Israel in their scattered condition among the Gentiles” (section 113)

    I think you have misinterpreted this. The Gentiles (when referred to in the BOM or D&C ARE THE LDS CHURCH.
    See the cover page of the BOM
    Doctrine and Covenants 109:60
    http://unblogmysoul.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/answer-to-lisa-who-are-the-gentiles/

    • Yes Rob-

      but modern revelation also informs us that the LDS gentiles are literally the children of Israel see 103:17 and also 109:57-58 (as does the book of Mormon see 2nd Nephi 30:2) also notice that as early as 1838 in section 115:3 the Lord was using “scatter” vocabulary referring to latter day Israel after they had rejected the fulness of the gospel and defiled the Kirtland temple and fled from the first two holy places they were commanded to redeem.

  14. Rob says:

    “Without skipping a beat I continued interrogating Hugh to see what he thought about the changes that had been made in the temple endowment. Although his responses to my questions were interesting, they cannot be documented and therefore are inconsequential for this paper.”

    Oh, come on, do tell.
