For those who are Watching…

This blog is an outgrowth of its sister site which provides over 50 scriptural and prophetic evidences that the “Marvelous Work and a Wonder” spoken of in Isaiah and the Book of Mormon did not begin during Joseph Smith’s ministry and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon in the 1800’s.

The LDS restoration movement represented the laying of the FOUNDATION for the Marvelous Work and a Wonder that was to come forth four generations later. It is time for the Marvelous Work and a Wonder to happen NOW. It is our generation that will see it unfold.

After the saints failed to live the law of consecration and failed to redeem Zion during Joseph Smith’s 15 year ministry, the Lord told them they must wait for a “little season” of “chastisement” and “learning” before they could live the laws pertaining to Zion.

The Marvelous Work and a Wonder takes place when the Gentiles repent and accept the fulness of the gospel and it includes the coming forth of additional ancient records as detailed in the 4th chapter of Ether.

Behold, I have written upon these plates the very thingswhich the brother of Jared saw; and there never weregreater things made manifest than those which were made manifest unto the brother of Jared.

Wherefore the Lord hath commanded me to write them; and I have written them. And he commanded me that I should seal them up; and he also hath commanded that I should seal up the interpretation thereof; wherefore I have sealed up the interpreters, according to the commandment of the Lord.

For the Lord said unto me: They shall not go forth unto the Gentiles until the day that they shall repent of their iniquity, and become clean before the Lord.

And in that day that they shall exercise faith in me, saith the Lord, even as the brother of Jared did, that they may become sanctified in me, then will I manifest unto them the things which the brother of Jared saw, even to the unfolding unto them all my revelations, saith Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of the heavens and of the earth, and all things that in them are.

I believe the Marvelous Work and a Wonder is about to begin.

What is This Blog and Related Blogs and Youtubes About?

This blog deals with deep doctrinal, historical and prophecy related issues pertaining to the LDS Restoration Movement, the Restored Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It views history through the lens of prophecy and prophecy through the lens of LDS church history.

The blog and associated content assumes that the reader visiting this site has a foundational understanding and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as detailed and witnessed of in the New Testament and further witnessed of in the Book of Mormon.

If you do not have a strong foundation in the New Testament you would be wise to leave this site and prayerfully begin reading the New Testament to gain a foundational understanding and testimony of Christ and his gospel.

One of the very first revelations that Joseph Smith received informed him that Christ was about to restore New Testament Christianity.

“And thus, if the people of this generation harden not their hearts, I will work a reformation among them, and I will put down all lyings, and deceivings, and priestcrafts, and envyings, and strifes, and idolatries, and sorceries, and all manner of iniquities, and I will establish my church, like unto the church which was taught by my disciples in the days of old.

And now if this generation do harden their hearts against my word, behold I will deliver them up unto Satan, for he reigneth and hath power at this time, for he hath got great hold upon the hearts of the people of this generation”

Everything that took place during Joseph Smith’s ministry, following the above declaration from the Lord, is predicated upon New Testament Christianity. Something the modern LDS Church has wandered away from.

Once you are grounded in the New Testament and desire to gain a greater understanding of the latter day saint restoration movement, it is suggested that the reader begin with the the three watches blog . Read every numbered post in chronological order beginning with the very first post which lays the foundation for the journey you are about to embark on. Posts that don’t have a “#1”, “#2”, etc. are not important.

This book provide the true Biblical profile of who Joseph Smith really was and what his full calling is. It documents how Joseph Smith, the latter day Moses offered up an atonement offering in behalf of latter day Israel after they rejected the fulness, much the same way the Moses offered himself as an atonement offering for ancient Israel after they rejected the fulness. The book provides answers to most of the criticisms made by skeptics of the restoration. The book can be ordered through Amazon.

Three chapters of my book address the topic of the intercessory atonement offering. I feel that the documentation I have provided is beyond compelling in showing that Joseph Smith is the COVENANT SERVANT of the Lord in the last days who began the work of the Lord and will finish it under the direction of, and in conjunction with, Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

The book has not had it’s final proofing and is therefore currently being sold for $19 instead of $49.

The book is over 600 pages long with over 1200 historical and scriptural references.

I am not interested in doing an interview at this time.

  2. First forgive me if I have not read all your work but I just finished your critique to Denver’s work and a correlation came to mind of some of the ancient documents I have read in the past. I was just wondering if you would comment to me on this correlation. According to your work on John the Baptist being Elias could Joseph Smith be Enoch? In the 1835 edition of the D&C Joseph Smith is referred to as Enoch .
    From Wikipedia
“The original 1835 edition of the Doctrine and Covenants, a book of LDS scripture, used code names for certain people and places. The 1981 LDS edition replaced these with the real names. The Community of Christ edition still uses the code names.
    Enoch: Joseph Smith, Jr.
Gazelam: Joseph Smith, Jr. (cf. Gazelem)
    Horah: John Whitmer
    Mahalaleel: Algernon Sidney Gilbert
    Mehemson: Martin Harris
    Olihah: Oliver Cowdery (see -ihah)
    Pelagoram: Sidney Rigdon
Shalemanasseh: William Wines Phelps (cf. Shalmaneser, Manasseh)
Shederlaomach: Frederick G. Williams (cf. Chedorlaomer, Shedolamak)
    Zombre: John Johnson”
In the ancient document “the history of joseph the carpenter” It records the death of Joseph the carpenter.
“31. And our Saviour answered and said: Indeed, the prophecy of my Father upon Adam, for his disobedience, has now been fulfilled. And all things are arranged according to the will and pleasure of my Father. For if a man rejects the commandment of God, and follows the works of the devil by committing sin, his life is prolonged; for be is preserved in order that he may perhaps repent, and reflect that he must be delivered into the hands of death. But if any one has been zealous of good works, his life also is prolonged, that, as the fame of his old age increases, upright men may imitate him. But when you see a man whose mind is prone to anger, assuredly his days are shortened; for it is these that are taken away in the flower of their age. Every prophecy, therefore, which my Father has pronounced concerning the sons of men, must be fulfilled in every particular. But with reference to Enoch and Elias, and how they remain alive to this day, keeping the same bodies with which they were born; and as to what concerns my father Joseph, who has not been allowed as well as they to remain in the body: indeed, though a man live in the world many myriads of years, nevertheless at some time or other he is compelled to exchange life for death. “
And I say to you, O my brethren, that they also, Enoch and Elias, must towards the end of time return into the world and die–in the day, namely, of commotion, of terror, of perplexity, and affliction. For Antichrist will slay four bodies, and will pour out their blood like water, because of the reproach to which they shall expose him, and the ignominy with which they, in their lifetime, shall brand him when they reveal his impiety.
    32. And we said: O our Lord, our God and Saviour, who are those four whom Thou hast said Antichrist will cut off from the reproach they bring upon him? The Lord answered: They are Enoch, Elias, Schila, and Tabitha. When we heard this from our Saviour, we rejoiced and exulted; and we offered all glory and thanksgiving to the Lord God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ. He it is to whom is due glory, honour, dignity, dominion, power, and praise, as well as to the good Father with Him, and to the Holy Spirit that giveth life, henceforth and in all time for evermore. Amen.”
I know this does not correlate with everything you presented but If this account is correct then the two prophets to return could be Joseph Smith and John the Baptist. I don’t have a clue who Schila or Tabitha are maybe you might. I was also wondering if you had a comment on the doctrine taught by Joseph Smith on “Eternal Lives” not to be confused with the doctrine of eternal life. Thanks for the great work.

    • Kevin

I love the apocrypha and have found lots of juicy stuff in it that I believe to be true. Naturally, one needs to be very careful and use the gift of discernment when reading it.

That is a fascinating segment that you provided from the “History of Joseph the Carpenter”.

The text gives support to the doctrine of perpetual virginity of Mary which of course is not true, so we know that there are definitely some doctrinal inadequacies in the text to begin with.

My personal opinion is that Enoch is with the city of Enoch and will return with them. That said, it is certainly possible that he could have a future mission.

The concept of there being four martyrs instead of the two witnesses spoken of in scripture is new to me.

I think you bring up an interesting possibility and I have wondered why Joseph was given the code name of Enoch.

If in fact Joseph Smith was transmigrated from a previous ministry, my guess is that he was Joseph of Egypt. My supporting evidence for that would be JST Gen 48:11

But I prefer to not get too carried away on those types of speculations… the only reason I introduced the Elijah narrative is because I think it is an indisputable doctrine that needed to be brought forth at this time to show how completely Mr. Snuffer missed the mark on the veracity of section 110.

” I was also wondering if you had a comment on the doctrine taught by Joseph Smith on “Eternal Lives” not to be confused with the doctrine of eternal life.”

I am not sure which comment you are referring to .

Thank you for visiting the blog and for the very interesting passages from the apocrypha!

  3. Fusion says:

Did you mean JST Gen 48:21 instead of 48:11 in regards to JS-Joseph of Egypt connection?

    • No, I meant JST Gen 48:11 which is found on page 799 of many contemporary LDS quads or you can view it online here

Notice from verse 10 that the narrative takes place AFTER Joseph provides a temporal salvation for his brethren who sold him into Egypt, yet, in verse 11, Jacob prophesies to Joseph that at a future time, Joseph will be a light to his brethren and will deliver them in the days of their captivity and bondage.

It is clearly speaking of a future time and it transends just a temporal salvation. He is to bring them the message of “salvation” during a time when they are “bowed down under sin”:

      “10 For thou hast prevailed, and thy father’s house hath bowed down unto thee, even as it was shown unto thee, before thou wast sold into Egypt by the hands of thy brethren; wherefore thy brethren shall bow down unto thee, from generation to generation, unto the fruit of thy loins forever;

11 For thou shalt be a light unto my people, to deliver them in the days of their captivity, from bondage; and to bring salvation unto them, when they are altogether bowed down under sin.”

I suspect that most people interpret the above passage to be referring to the posterity of Joseph or even a specific descendent of Joseph, but that is not really what it is saying. It is being directed specifically at Joseph.

Very shortly after this prophecy is given, one chapter later, Joseph Dies without any account of the prophecy being fulfilled.

Again, I don’t want to get obsessed with speculation about other possible transmigration ministries like Elijah had… I’m Just responding to the question posed by Kevin…

You must admit, the passage is curious.. 🙂

(Joseph Smith is arguably referred to in scripture as the messenger of light that brings the light of the everlasting covenant to the posterity of his brothers and the entire world… See section 45:9 in conjunction with Isa 42:6

Although most people are oblivious to this fact, we all happen to be in a state of captivity and we are bowed down under sin)

  4. Fusion says:

You know Watcher, this is clear evidence that I exist and remain in a stupor- I have an app on my smartphone (obviously the phone is smarter than I!) and it has both the JST and the KJV. I was at a party today and was reading in the bright sun, and opened KJV instead of JST! So, verse 11 in KJV was not at all the right one.

However, the verse I was pondering over as being verse 21 in the KJV, is actually verse 27 in the JST, which reads:

27 And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die; but God shall be with you, and bring you AGAIN unto the land of your fathers.

I though that ‘bring you AGAIN’ (capitals are mine) emphasised this possible transmigration. However, like you I think it is just speculation and probably incorrect, as unlike Elijah who did not taste death, Joseph of old did die, according to the record in the JST/KJV.

By the way, I think there is a site worth of your (and everyone else’s) study, about who and where are the Israelites today…

I remember you did a post about the British harbouring the blood of Israel amongst them. Not sure which post though a quick search would find it. Nonetheless, this site is simply amazing to study:

I believe this is a subject that is going to be increasingly more important as the days roll on in the next year or two.

  5. KJ says:

Watcher, ” I was also wondering if you had a comment on the doctrine taught by Joseph Smith on “Eternal Lives” not to be confused with the doctrine of eternal life.” You had not commented on the subject I was just wondering if you had a comment on the doctrine. I was reading a letter to Elder George S. Gibbs From Benjamin Johnson written in 1903 wich was a history of his observation of church history as requested by the first presidency. In the letter he refers to a doctrine taught by Joseph smith And I quote” he taught that all the animal kingdoms would be resurrected and made us understand that they would remain in the dominion of those who with creative power, reach out for dominion through the POWER OF ETERNAL LIVES. I recomend reading the whole letter he also said on another subject that “Joseph was the first in his age the doctrine of “substantialism” ” Wich clears up a lot of problems today on how the earth was created and the trinity of god doctrine. There is one more passage I found in another Heber C. Kimball, “Baby Resurrection”; that we are resurrected as babies. He taught what is called multiple mortal probations in General Conference in 1850:

“We have come here to become inured in work to build temples, and improve upon the elements that God has placed around us, that we may become more skillful tomorrow, through the experience of today. What I do not today, when the sun goes down, I lay down to sleep, which is typical [a metaphor] of death; and in the morning I rise and commence my work where I left it yesterday. That course is typical [a metaphor] of the probations we take. But suppose that I do not improve my time today, I wake up tomorrow and find myself in the rear; and then, if I do not improve upon the day [mortal life], and again lay down to sleep [die], on awaking, I find myself still in the rear. This day’s work is typical of this probation, and the sleep of every night is typical of death, adn the rising in the morning is typical of the resurrection. They are days labours, and it is for us to be faithful today, tomorrow, and every day.” (JD 4:329) I Just want to point out that I really have not come to know this doctrine other than I find it fascinating. Thanks for the great blog and I know I’m keeping my eyes peeled.

    • KJ

      Thanks for the reference.

With regard to the doctrine of multiple mortal probations that Chris Nemelka and other Internet bloggers have been buzzing about, I will probably address this in detail at a future time however, I don’t want to do it now.

I would really need to provide a good foundation and develop a few related points of doctrine before providing an answer to your question that would be meaningful to you. But I cannot take the time to try and develop that foundation in the comment section of this post.

I would encourage you to read all of the posts suggested on the main page of this blog. I think that once you have done that, the answer to the questions you have posed will be obvious to you.

I will say this, back when I was just beginning my serious quest for a deeper understanding of the gospel, I loved to read the Journal of Discourses and the sermons of Brigham Young and Heber Kimball and the other Mormon apostles that led the Saints to Utah, thinking they were highly doctrinally enlightened beings.

25 years later, after studying the scriptures and the history of the church on a much deeper scale, I have a much different paradigm and I frankly don’t consider the Journal of Discourses and the diaries of the Utah apostles to be a credible source for sound doctrine.

For example, Wilford Woodruff claimed that Brigham Young taught that each of the people from this world that will be exalted will become a Christ and will people their own world and will hang on a cross and atone for the people of their own worlds.

While I thought that was an amazing doctrine when I first came upon it, I have come to believe that it is contrary to the revealed word of God.

I have even come to question some of the things that Joseph taught during the Nauvoo period, after the fulness of the gospel was rejected by the gentile church in 1834. The King Follett Sermon is another good example where the word of God is blatantly contradicted.

Perhaps I have already said too much without laying a better foundation for why I feel this way.

Anyway, I am currently working on a series that has really sobered me up concerning our current situation and I don’t think we are in a position right now to be worrying about the mysteries of the kingdom. Our concern right now is that the everlasting covenant has been broken and we desperately need it to be re-established.

We live in a time of hidden darkness and things are the darkest right before the light of the gospel shines forth for the last time. False spirits are flooding the earth right now and the level of deception with regard to doctrine and perceived spiritual experiences is extremely high.

I feel we latter day saints need to repent and humble ourselves and pray for deliverance from the spiritual bondage that we are currently in.

I appreciate your questions and again, would refer you to the other posts which will provide a good foundation about where we stand as an apostate people.

  6. JennyP1969 says:

    Hi Watcher,

I watched a late night show on the Catholic channel tonight called “The Star of Bethlehem” hosted by an astronomer. He used a computer program called “Starry Night” to precisely go back in time to the birth of Christ. He showed the astronomical fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy, the sky John described in Revelations — we’ll, John didn’t say he was seeing the sky, but this astronomer showed the pregnant woman bathed in light with the moon at her feet, etc. The latter took place in the sky in September of 2 BC. The crucifixion took place on April 3rd.

Anyway, you have written of Jewish feasts and equinox significance. Have you ever heard of or used “Starry Night”? It seems that the stars are witnesses of important events. Surely the stars will testify of what’s coming. As we watch, what can we learn from them — not just looking back, but looking forward?

This astronomer (I forget his name) said that the heavens move mathematically precise. So is it possible to use a computer program to look into the future of the constellations and eclipses? He showed how the full moon on the night the Savior died rose within an eclipse causing the moon to appear red. In ancient times, this was called a “blood moon” or a moon turned into blood.

Sorry to bother you in the middle of a new series of posts. I’m in no hurry for any answers, but am convinced there are literal witnesses within the temporal heavens. There must be clues in the prophecies to apply to the coming night skies.

  7. JennyP1969 says:

BTW, I would never have watched a Catholic tv show on astronomy if not for this website. My mind has been opened to things in plain sight but still not easily seen. I just can’t say thanks enough for what I’m learning — not the least of which is that God is very precise and exact in His works, prophesies, and teachings. And the movement of the earth and skies precisely testify of His….well…..preciseness.

    • Jenny

I think I have seen that show, or one very similar to it.

I believe the stars and planets and the alignments thereof play an incredible role in understanding times past and times future.

I love your statement that God is very precise and exact in his words, prophecies and teachings because it is profoundly true. In the final post of this current series I am going to demonstrate that the prophet Daniel, through the grace of God, is one of the greatest LDS Church historians that ever lived because he highlights nine major historical events in LDS church history.

He does this using mathematical time sequences that clarify the exact dates and the significance of the events. He does it thousands of years before these events even take place.

The exactness and accuracy of God’s holy and infallible word is beyond human understanding.

      Praise God

BTW if you are not familiar with the work of Mark Blitz and his work, you might enjoy reading some of his stuff. The following interview with him is very interesting. It integrates signs in the heavens with Jewish feast days

@Watcher- Thanks I look forward to your upcoming info. I must say that I agree with you and Alma 40:5 .It’s a great time to be alive.

  9. JennyP1969 says:

Thanks for the referral, Watcher — I will check it out swiftly. I am looking forward to studying the OT in GD for the first time ever! Thanks for that, too…. I taught Seminary and was very relieved when I was called to another place to serve just before the OT year. Nothing in our correlated lessons make the OT feel very inspiring. But now I see, I see! I can’t wait for your post on Daniel….

I’ve felt an increasing kind of holy awareness that every single thing we wish to know and understand is available before us in clear view if we know how and where to seek.

  10. Fusion says:

Can’t wait for the Daniel post/series!

Listening to Mark Blitz here got me thinking back to a post you did on the timeline of the earth being 8,000 years or so- I was wondering, would it make more sense to work on the Jewish/Hebrew calendar instead of Gregorian to work out when Adam/Eve were, then Jesus’ birth (other options: meridian of His life; Atonement in Gethsemane; Jesus’ death on the cross) and THEN work out where we are in the timeline?

I believe we are in the year 5774 now according to the Hebrew calendar…

  11. Peter Taylor says:

Hey Watcher. Just started listening to your podcast from the start, and can’t help but notice that podcasts 6 through 9, and 11 are missing. Any reason for this?
